Every month since Veterans Day of 2015, the City of Boston​'s Office of Veterans’ Services​ continues to organize volunteers in a different neighborhood to hand deliver resource packets and a special challenge coin to the veterans of Boston. Operation Thank a Veteran is not only a humble gesture of goodwill, but the beginning of a conversation that connects military veterans and their families to the communities that they call home.

On this day, we are joined by Mayor Martin J. Walsh as our community partner, Urban Edge, hosts volunteers to visit the veterans of Jamaica Plain. It is a day of connecting with our neighbors in the commonalities that we share, respectfully educating each other on how to be supportive using our diversity as strengths and serving one another in building an inclusive and thriving city with compassion.
